Boulder's Public Golf Course
Flatirons Golf Course — Boulder, Colorado
From the WPA to Today
Built by the WPA
Constructed under FDR's Works Progress Administration as part of Boulder's public parks investment — one of Colorado's earliest municipal courses.
Community Expansion
Course improvements and expanded programming brought Flatirons to thousands of Boulder residents as the city grew westward toward the mountains.
Ironwood Opens
The Ironwood Bar & Grille joined the course, opening the property to non-golfers and establishing Flatirons as a full community gathering place.
Still Public, Still Yours
Maintained by City of Boulder Parks & Recreation. No private ownership, no membership required. Just 18 holes under the Flatirons, open to everyone.
Ironwood Bar & Grille
The Ironwood is Boulder's best-kept open secret: a full-service restaurant and bar with mountain views, open to everyone. Finished your round? Pull up a chair. Never held a club in your life? Even better. The patio overlooks the Flatirons and no private club can offer you that.
The Course, The Community

Season passes start at $2,000 for adults, $1,600 for seniors, and just $475 for juniors. Value plans are also available. Call the Golf Shop at 303-442-7851 for details.
All fees are for walking. Cart rental available separately.
A Historic Course
"Some courses are built for profit. This one was built for the city — and has remained that way ever since."
Flatirons Golf Course is one of Colorado's enduring public golf destinations: a historic 18-hole layout managed by the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation department. Unlike courses built for commercial return, this one was built for the community, and every improvement made here belongs to the city — and to everyone who plays it.
What makes Flatirons historic isn't only its age. It's the continuity of public stewardship. Generations of Boulder residents have walked these fairways, and the Flatirons have watched over every round.
From the WPA to Today
1933
Constructed under FDR's WPA as part of Boulder's public investment in parks and recreation — one of Colorado's earliest municipal golf courses, built for and by the community.
1960s
As Boulder expanded toward the mountains, Flatirons grew with it — expanded programming and course improvements brought the course to thousands of new residents each decade.
2000s
The addition of the Ironwood extended the course's reach beyond golfers, making Flatirons a gathering place for all of Boulder — with the Flatirons as a constant backdrop.
Today
Still public. Still yours. Nine decades of community stewardship have shaped every fairway, every tree line, and every view of the mountains that greets you on the first tee.
"The mountains don't move. Every round here, they remind you what matters."
